Report

So having lost the first game of the season to Purton with a poor display the chance was ours to rectify the result. This was a stiff chalange as we were without 5 key batsman. So having lost the toss again, we were asked to bat. However due to them only having 6 players by about 6.30 they batted instead. Not such a hot fielding display and plenty of dropped catches ensure the visitors scored way more than they deserved finishing on (to be honest i dont know as they did not do the score book for us about 130 - 5)

So Winterbourne needed just over a run a ball and the usual pair of Nick and Wayne opened the batting. It didn't take long for Nick to do his usual and run out Wayne for 8, although in his defence it was a direct hit from 40 yards. Next in was Dave Horbunowicz a friend of Nathans playing his first game for 2 years. Lets say he was a little bit rusty and took some time to get going. While this was going on Nick yorked himself trying to force the run rate and winterbourne were in serious trouble 26 for 2. Next in was Andy Dodson and he and Dave scratched around and were restricted by a good bowling performance by Purtons opening pair. When Dave was finally bowled for 7, the run rate was hitting 10 an over. In came Nathan who got going with some attacking shots before Andy was caught trying to force the issue. In came Alan Fisher who scored at more than a run a ball but it was all in vein as winterbourne finished short on 92 for 6. A bit of a poor performance in the field today lads. They say that catches win matches and after the number we droped today should never have won it. Chin up there is always next week :)
